WHAT IS RUGBY?
Rugby (Union) is a close-contact 80 minutes game, played by two teams of 15 players each, with an oval-shaped ball, in a rectangular pitch of 100m in length, from goal posts to goal posts, and 70 m in width.
The main goal of the game is to carry or kick the ball behind the try line (line where the goal posts are situated) and to touch the ball on the ground to score a Try (goal). The team with most points at the end of the game wins.
The challenges of Rugby are that the ball can only be passed backwards by hand (you can kick the ball forward) and that the player carrying the ball can be tackled to the ground by players of the opposite team.
